Kshetra: Where differing views find common ground
Kshetra began as an idea to equip India's social sector with the power of mediation, so that its most contentious, deeply rooted problems could be solved through understanding rather than conflict. My role was to design the website and create its illustrations. The social sector is shaped by people at policy level as well as on the ground, working in very different parts of the country, and I wanted the illustrations to reflect that. Drawing on Indian textiles such as patchwork and ikat, I dressed the illustrated figures in regional weaves, each hinting at the area its community and field staff come from. Alongside photography, they keep a serious subject warm, human and unmistakably Indian.
